YUANGONG

Yuan Gong, artist, was born in Shanghai in 1961, and currently lives and works in the United Kingdom. He was awarded a Doctorate in Art Studies by the Chinese Academy of Arts in 2012. Since the 1990s, he has been engaged in diverse spheres of contemporary‑art practice. In 2017, he relocated to the United Kingdom and has since held a Global‑Talent Artist Visa endorsed by Arts Council England.

His major recent exhibitions include: the Thematic Exhibition of the Chinese Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale; Unpresented Voices, a collateral event of the 55th Venice Biennale; Taste of Art at Museum Tinguely (Basel); the 3rd Manchester Asian Art Triennial; China 8 ‑ Contemporary Art from China at Kunstmuseum Mülheim an der Ruhr; Asia Time, the 1st Asia Biennial & 5th Guangzhou Triennial; the 2021 centenary programme of the Beuys Foundation; the 2nd Tijuana Triennial, International Graphic‑Arts Exhibition (Mexico, 2024); and The World of Stage I, his solo exhibition on the Island of San Servolo, Venice (2026).

Works by Yuan Gong are held in the collections of the Guangdong Museum of Art, Tianjin Art Museum, Luohu Art Museum, Hubei Museum of Art, the Arthur M. Sackler Museum, the Snodder Foundation, the White Rabbit Gallery, and the noted contemporary‑art collector Uli Sigg.
